If you’re looking for Valentine popcorn, you’ll have a difficult time finding something as festive as this chocolate-drizzled popcorn mix. Perfect for quiet date nights at home, Galentine’s brunch, treats for your kid’s classroom, or movie night with the family, it makes every celebration sweeter.
All you need for this Valentine trail mix is your Popper and a few festive ingredients — just follow everything below:
Valentine’s Day Trail Mix Popcorn Ingredients
-
½ cup popcorn kernels
-
2 tablespoons coconut oil
-
½ cup milk chocolate chips
-
½ cup white chocolate chips
-
¾ cup pecans, roughly chopped
-
½ cup freeze-dried strawberries
-
¼ cup M&M’s (red and pink)
-
¼ cup jelly beans (red and pink)
-
¼ cup Valentine sprinkles
-
1 teaspoon flaky sea salt
Valentine Popcorn Trail Mix Directions
Step 1: Preheat
Set your stove to medium heat and let your Popsmith preheat for 1-2 minutes.
Step 2: Add Oil and Kernels

Place oil in the Popper and toss in 3 kernels. When you hear that first pop, pour the rest of the kernels and cover the pot.
Step 3: Turn

Keep turning the crank while the kernels pop for an even cook.
Step 4: Remove from Burner
When popping slows to 1-2 seconds between pops, take the Popper off the heat and pour the popcorn onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 5: Melt Chocolate
Melt milk chocolate chips in 30-second microwave intervals until smooth. Repeat separately with the white chocolate chips.
Step 6: Drizzle
Drizzle both chocolates over the popcorn in a zigzag pattern. Work quickly so the chocolate doesn’t set.
PRO TIP: Use a fork or zip-top bag with the corner snipped off for cleaner drizzle lines and hold it 6 inches above the popcorn. If the chocolate is too thick, add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.
Step 7: Add Mix-Ins
While the melted chocolate is still warm, sprinkle M&M’s, jelly beans, pecans, freeze-dried strawberries, and Valentine sprinkles over the popcorn. Then add a pinch of salt for balance.
Step 8: Set and Enjoy

Let the chocolate set completely, break your Valentine snack mix into clusters, and transfer to a bowl or gift bags.
More Valentine Trail Mix Tips
-
Make your Valentine trail mix extra special by packaging portions in clear cellophane bags tied with red ribbon. These are perfect for your kid’s classroom Valentine’s or for your Galentine’s get-together.
-
If you’re not into candy, you can substitute the jelly beans for mini pretzels to add a salty contrast to all the sweetness or roasted almonds for extra crunch.
-
Store any leftover Valentine’s Day trail mix in an airtight container at room temperature and eat within 5 days. Humidity can soften the popcorn over time.
Valentine Snack Mix Variations
-
Berry Lovers: Double up on the fruit with both freeze-dried strawberries and raspberries, add yogurt-covered raisins, and stick to just white chocolate for a lighter mix.
-
Gourmet Mix: Swap the milk chocolate and freeze-dried strawberries for dark chocolate and dried cranberries if you want your Valentine popcorn trail mix to have a more sophisticated flavor profile.
-
Peppermint Twist: Add half a cup of crushed peppermint candies for a Valentine-themed peppermint bark. This works especially well with dark chocolate drizzle.
