Lucky Green Popcorn at a Glance
Legend has it that there’s a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow, but honestly, this lucky green popcorn is the real treasure. It’s loaded with golden Oreo pieces that look just like little gold nuggets and green M&M’s that add a chocolatey finish, with a marshmallow coating that brings everything together.
Now grab your Popper and let's make this St. Patrick's Day popcorn magic happen:
Lucky Green Popcorn Ingredients
-
½ cup popcorn kernels
-
2 tablespoons coconut oil
-
3 tablespoons butter
-
3 cups mini marshmallows
-
1 cup golden Oreos (about 8 cookies), chopped
-
1 cup green M&M’s
-
¾ teaspoon sea salt
Lucky Green Popcorn Directions
Step 1: Preheat Popper
Set your stove to medium heat and let your Popsmith preheat for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 2: Add Oil and Kernels

Add the coconut oil to the Popper, then drop 2-3 kernels into the Popper. When the first one pops, toss in the rest and cover the pot.
Step 3: Pop

Turn the Popper's crank clockwise as the kernels pop for an even cook.
Step 4: Remove
Take the Popper off the heat when popping slows to 1-2 seconds between pops. Pour the popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 5: Make the Marshmallow Coating
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, then add the marshmallows, stirring constantly until smooth and fully melted. Remove from heat ASAP — it will turn stiff if you let it sit for too long.
Step 6: Combine
Pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and use a spatula to coat it evenly. Sprinkle in the salt and fold in the chopped Oreos while it’s still warm and sticky.
Step 7: Add M&M’s
Scatter the green M&M’s over the popcorn. Let the lucky green popcorn cool for 5-10 minutes until the marshmallow sets.
Step 8: Enjoy

More Lucky Green Popcorn Tips
-
Work quickly once the marshmallow coating is ready — it sets fast, and you want the golden Oreos folded in while everything is still warm and sticky so they bind properly.
-
Want extra crunch? Fold in a handful of mini pretzels along with the Oreos.
-
This lucky green popcorn makes a great homemade gift. You can scoop it into a clear bag or mason jar and tie it with a green ribbon for a special St. Patrick's Day treat.
-
If you want to sort green M&M’s from a regular bag, it takes about 5 minutes and is weirdly satisfying. Or you can grab a bag of just green ones online if you'd rather skip the sorting!
-
Try making this with your kids. They can help you break the Oreos or sort the M&M’s. Either way, it makes digging in together at the end so much sweeter.
-
Store any leftover popcorn in an airtight container at room temperature and finish it within 3 days (the Oreos will start to soften after that).
It’s Your Lucky Day
All that glitters isn’t always gold — sometimes, it’s golden Oreo pieces and green M&M’s on a bowl of St. Patrick’s Day popcorn. Whether you’re hosting a party or settling in for a movie marathon, this fun treat is guaranteed to put everyone in a festive mood.
