Want to make Valentine’s Day even sweeter this year? Need inspiration for your sister’s baby shower?
Whatever it is — whether there’s a special event on the way, or you enjoy fruity treats, or you love popcorn and are constantly experimenting with new flavors — you’ll want this strawberry popcorn recipe up your sleeve!
Using real freeze-dried strawberries (no artificial colors here!) and your trusty Popsmith Popper, you’ll be just minutes away from creating a show-stopping snack.
Here’s everything you need to know about making it:
Strawberry Popcorn Ingredients
-
½ cup popcorn kernels
-
2 tablespoons oil
-
1.5 cups freeze-dried strawberries (makes about 2-3 tablespoons of strawberry powder)
-
1.5 cups white chocolate chips
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
¼ teaspoon salt
-
Optional: extra freeze-dried strawberries for garnish
Strawberry Popcorn Directions
Step 1: Preheat
Set your stove to medium heat and let your Popper preheat for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 2: Pour Oil and Kernels
Pour oil into the Popper and toss in 3 kernels. When the first kernel pops, throw in the rest and cover the pot.
Step 3: Turn
Turn the Popper’s crank clockwise as the kernels pop to prevent them from burning. You don’t have to crank the whole time, just every couple of seconds. The Popsmith was built to do most of the work.
Step 4: Remove
When popping slows to 1 to 2 seconds between pops, remove the Popper from the heat and take off the lid to let steam escape.
Step 5: Make Strawberry Powder
Pulse freeze-dried strawberries in a food processor until they become powder.
Step 6: Melt White Chocolate
Melt white chocolate in 30-second microwave intervals, stirring between each. Once melted, stir in strawberry powder, vanilla extract, and salt.
Step 7: Combine
Pour the strawberry shortcake popcorn mixture over the popcorn, then cover the Popsmith and shake well to coat the kernels evenly. Give the popcorn a few minutes to set and top it with freeze-dried strawberry slices.
PRO TIP: You can also pour the popcorn directly onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, drizzle the strawberry flavoring, and mix everything together with a spatula.
Step 8: Serve
Pour your strawberry popcorn into a bowl and dig in!
More Strawberry Popcorn Tips
-
We don’t recommend fresh strawberries for this recipe! All that juiciness will seep into the popcorn and leave it soggy.
-
The popcorn tastes amazing on its own, but you can also enjoy it with mix-ins. Add chocolate chips to make it more chocolatey, sprinkle shredded coconut for a tropical twist, or toss in chopped nuts for more crunch.

Looking for a unique party favor? This strawberry popcorn will fit right in with the rest of the stuff in your goodie bags. Just store it in mason jars and wrap a ribbon around it for a nice finishing touch. Oh, and include a label saying it’s best consumed within 3 days.
A Pop of Pink
And there you go! Strawberry popcorn is really that simple. Try surprising your special someone with it this Valentine’s Day, or give it as party favors for your baby’s first birthday bash. The sweet berry-chocolate flavor makes it perfect for any occasion that needs a little extra magic.
