Matcha Popcorn at a Glance
Whether you're a longtime matcha devotee or just someone who likes to experiment in the kitchen, this white chocolate matcha popcorn is worth making. Matcha's earthy, slightly bitter notes find the perfect foil in creamy white chocolate — leaving you with a combination that's equal parts surprising and addictive.
All you need to bring it to life: your Popper, high-quality matcha powder, and a few basic ingredients.
Matcha Popcorn Ingredients
-
½ cup popcorn kernels
-
2 tablespoons coconut oil
-
12 oz white chocolate chips
-
2-3 tablespoons matcha powder (adjust to taste)
-
¼ teaspoon salt
Matcha Popcorn Directions
Step 1: Preheat
Set your stove to medium heat and allow the Popper to preheat for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 2: Pour Oil and Kernels

Pour oil into the pot and toss 3 test kernels. Once the first kernel pops, add the remaining and cover the Popsmith.
Step 3: Turn

Turn the Popper’s crank clockwise as the kernels pop to prevent burning. You don’t have to do this the whole time. A few cranks every couple of seconds will do the trick.
Step 4: Remove
When popping slows down to 1 to 2 seconds between pops, remove the Popsmith from the heat and pour the popcorn into a big bowl.
Step 5: Make Matcha Popcorn Coating
Melt white chocolate in 30-second microwave intervals, stirring between each interval. Then mix in the matcha powder, add salt, and stir until smooth.
Step 6: Combine
Pour the matcha chocolate mixture over the popcorn and use a spatula to coat it evenly.
Step 7: Serve

Wait for the matcha popcorn to set, break it into clusters, and enjoy!
