Chocolate popcorn and peanut butter popcorn are equally amazing, but do you know what’s even better? Chocolate peanut butter popcorn! It’s double the flavor and the fun, especially with your trusty Popper.
Here’s how to make it:
Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Ingredients
- ½ cup kernels
- 2 tablespoons oil
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ⅓ cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup chopped peanuts (optional, for extra crunch)
Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Directions
Step 1: Heat
Set your stove to medium heat and let your Popper preheat for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 2: Pour Oil
Pour oil into the Popper.
Step 3: Add Kernels
Toss 2 to 3 kernels into the pot. When the first one pops, pour the rest and cover the Popper.
Step 4: Turn
Crank the Popper as the kernels pop to keep them from staying in one place and burning. You don’t have to do this the entire time — every couple of seconds is fine since the Popsmith was built to do most of the work for you.
Step 5: Remove
Take the pot off the heat and pour your popcorn into a huge bowl.
Step 6: Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Sauce
Mix peanut butter, chocolate chips, and butter in a small bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each. Then add honey and salt and stir until smooth.
Step 7: Combine
Drizzle mixture over your freshly popped popcorn and give the bowl a good toss to coat the popcorn evenly. Sprinkle chopped peanuts if you’re using them, and toss again.
Step 8: Serve
Wait a few minutes for your popcorn to set, break it into clusters, and enjoy!
More Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Tips
- You can lay your finished popcorn on a parchment-lined baking sheet to set — this makes it easier to break into clusters later.
- To turn your peanut butter chocolate popcorn into popcorn balls, wait until the mixture is cool enough to handle but still sticky, coat your hands with a light layer of butter or oil, and shape them fast! Wrap the balls in cellophane and secure them with a ribbon for a special homemade popcorn gift.
- Store any leftovers (if you have any!) in an airtight container for up to 3 days. If the popcorn isn’t crunchy anymore, preheat your oven to 250°F, spread your leftover popcorn on a baking sheet, and bake for five minutes. Make sure to give the popcorn a toss midway through to prevent burning.
