How to Make Nutella Popcorn

Nutella fans and popcorn lovers, assemble! This Nutella popcorn recipe is screaming your name.

\Can’t resist Nutella? Neither can we!

We thought Nutella and popcorn would taste amazing together, but actually trying it was SO much better than what we imagined. Do yourself a favor and make your own Nutella popcorn right now — it’s so easy with your Popper and this quick recipe:

Nutella Popcorn Ingredients

  • ½ cup popcorn kernels

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

  • ⅔ cup Nutella

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ½ cup chopped hazelnuts (optional)

Nutella Popcorn Directions

Step 1: Preheat

Set your stove to medium heat and let your Popper preheat for 1 to 2 minutes.

Step 2: Pour Oil and Kernels

Add oil to the Popper and drop 3 test kernels. When the first kernel pops, add the rest and cover the pot.

Step 3: Turn

Turn the Popsmith’s crank clockwise as the kernels pop to prevent burning. You don’t have to do this the entire time, though. The Popper does most of the work for you.

Step 4: Remove

When popping slows to 1-2 seconds between pops, take the Popper off the heat and pour the popcorn into a huge mixing bowl.

Step 5: Make Nutella Popcorn Coating

Combine Nutella and butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until mixture is completely melted and smooth. Then stir in vanilla extract and salt.

Step 6: Coat Popcorn

Pour the Nutella-butter mixture over the popcorn and gently fold with a spatula until evenly distributed. If using, sprinkle chopped hazelnuts.

Step 7: Spread

Spread the popcorn on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and set for around 15 minutes.

Step 8: Serve

More Nutella Popcorn Tips

  • For a crispier texture, bake your Nutella popcorn at 250°F for 15 minutes.

  • Want to make Nutella popcorn balls? Add two tablespoons of honey to your Nutella-butter mixture, coat your popcorn with it, and let it cool for just 3 minutes. Then lightly coat your hands with cooking spray and shape the Nutella popcorn into balls.

  • Store any leftover popcorn in an airtight container away from sunlight and eat it within 3 days. This shouldn’t be a problem, though, since it’s so irresistible!
