Imagine fresh, piping hot popcorn coated in melted marshmallows with just a hint of vanilla. Doesn’t that sound heavenly? It’s like the rice krispies you enjoyed growing up, only so much better!
And of course, like the other popcorn recipes we’ve done in the past, this marshmallow popcorn is really easy to make with your Popper.
Check it out:
Marshmallow Popcorn Ingredients
- 1 packet Oh Sooo Buttery Popcorn
- 1 ¼ cup mini marshmallows
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Marshmallow Popcorn Directions
Step 1: Heat
Set stove to medium heat and let your Popper preheat for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 2: Add Oil
Cut open the oil portion of the Oh Sooo Buttery Popcorn packet and pour it into the Popper.
Step 3: Add Kernels
Cut the kernel portion of the popcorn kit and toss 2 to 3 kernels into the pot. Pour the rest when the first one pops.
Step 4: Add Salt
Now pour the salt portion into the Popper and cover it.
Step 5: Turn
Turn the crank clockwise while the kernels pop to keep them from staying in one place and burning.
Step 6: Remove
When popping slows, remove the Popper from the burner and take off the lid.
Step 7: Make Marshmallow Popcorn Mixture
Combine mini marshmallows and butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after every interval, until smooth and completely melted. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 9: Combine
Drizzle the melted marshmallow mixture over the popcorn, put the Popper’s lid back on, and then give it a good shake or a few more cranks to coat the popcorn evenly.
IMPORTANT: Be extra careful when pouring the mixture. It will be hot!
Step 10: Serve
Pour your marshmallow popcorn into a huge bowl, wait a few minutes for the melted marshmallows to set, then serve and enjoy!
More Marshmallow Popcorn Recipe Tips
- Try to work fast when you combine the popcorn with the marshmallow mixture. You don’t want to wait until the mixture starts setting.
- For extra flavor, add chocolate chips, nuts, sprinkles — whatever floats your boat. You can also make this s’mores popcorn recipe.
- Want to make marshmallow popcorn balls? Grease your hands a bit first, let the mixture cool slightly, then grab a handful of popcorn and shape it into balls. You can also wrap each ball in cellophane as a treat for guests on Halloween, Christmas, or other special occasions!
- While nothing beats fresh marshmallow popcorn, if you want to save some leftover popcorn for later, store it in an airtight container at room temperature. Just make sure you consume within 3 days.
