Salty, slightly bitter, and just a hint of sweet, salted dark chocolate popcorn hits all the right notes.

While it might only use a few ingredients, this versatile treat works for any occasion —  elegant enough for dinner parties but also easy to whip up for surprise guests. And it all starts with fresh popcorn from your Popper as the foundation.

Now let’s get popping and make salted dark chocolate popcorn:

Salted Dark Chocolate Popcorn Ingredients

  • ½ cup kernels

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

  • 1½ cups dark chocolate chips

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (for melting chocolate)

  • 2-3 teaspoons flaky sea salt

Salted Dark Chocolate Popcorn Directions

Step 1: Heat

Set your stove to medium heat and allow your Popper to preheat for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3: Pour Kernels

Drop in 2-3 kernels. When the first one pops, pour in the rest and cover the Popper.

Step 4: Turn

Turn the crank clockwise every few seconds during popping to prevent the kernels from burning.

Step 5: Remove

When popping slows to 1-2 seconds between pops, remove the Popsmith from the heat and transfer the popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 6: Melt Chocolate

Combine dark chocolate chips and a tablespoon of coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.

Step 7: Drizzle Chocolate

Pour the chocolate over the popcorn and gently fold with a spatula.

Step 8: Add Salt

While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle the sea salt evenly over the popcorn.

Step 9: Let Set

Allow the chocolate to set completely, about 30 minutes at room temperature (or 10-15 minutes in the refrigerator).

Step 10: Serve
