If you’re craving the popcorn they make at your local movie theater, stovetop popcorn will do the trick.
It ticks all the right boxes—from the familiar sound of kernels popping to the irresistible buttery smell to the undeniable crunch and party in your tastebuds.
But there’s one teensy issue: making it.
Whether it’s nailing the oil-to-butter ratio or even just keeping the kernels from burning, cooking popcorn on stovetop can be straight-up intimidating.
This is what led us to create the Popsmith Popper, a stovetop popcorn popper that elevates the snacking experience.
What Makes the Popsmith Stovetop Popcorn Popper Special?
For Popsmith’s founders, Tal Moore and Dave Strickland, popcorn is more than a snack. It’s a way to connect and celebrate.
They partnered with a leading industrial design firm to create something that would magnify that experience and deliver the best bowl of popcorn every time: the Popsmith Popper.
After nearly two years on the drawing board and hundreds of tests later, it’s safe to say that our stovetop popcorn popper does exactly that.
Here’s why you’ll love it:
Makes a Whopping Bowl of Popcorn in Minutes
The Popper’s 6-quart kettle can make enough popcorn for 4 people, or one very hungry person. It’s the MVP of movie nights, impromptu get-togethers, and the occasional midnight snacking.
Delivers Consistent Results
Our stovetop popcorn popper acts much like the popcorn machines at movie theaters—only it’s way more fun.
Here's how it pops consistently good popcorn:
- Hand crank: This is attached to the Popper’s lid and connected to rods. It’s literally what sets the popper in motion.
- Rods: The rods are at the bottom of the lid. As you turn the crank, the rods move and interact with the turning mechanism inside the pot.
- Patented spinner: Our turning mechanism has an agitator that runs along the bottom of the popper. It tumbles the kernels into oil, preventing burning and sticking.
High-End Materials for High-End Performance
Say goodbye to burnt batches and dozens of unpopped kernels going to waste.
The Popsmith Popper is premium cookware at its finest, with a stainless steel body and a multi-layered metal bottom that promotes even heat distribution.
We’re positive its superior build will continue to churn out ah-maize-ing popcorn for ages.

How to Make Stovetop Popcorn With the Popsmith Popper
With the Popper, you don’t need a Michelin star to make stovetop popcorn. All you gotta do is follow these steps, and you’ll have the best popcorn in under 5 minutes:
Step 1: Heat Up the Popper and Add Your Ingredients
Set the Popper over medium heat and pre-heat for 1 to 2 minutes. Then throw in oil, half a cup of kernels, and salt to taste. We recommend using 1 tablespoon of oil for every ¼ cup of kernels.
Pro Tip: Make your life easier with our pre-measured kits. Each pack includes farm-grown corn, 100% pure coconut oil, and seasoning—all the ingredients you need to make a big bowl of delicious popcorn. Choose between Oh Sooo Buttery, Classic Kettle Popcorn, or both!
Step 2: Turn and Get Poppin’
After adding the ingredients, put the lid over the Popper and turn the crank clockwise. The kernels pop as you keep turning.
When the popping slows, remove your stovetop popcorn maker from the burner.
Step 3: Mix It Up
Now’s the moment to unleash your inner Julia Child!
Take out the lid, sprinkle in some mix-ins (chocolate and marshmallows, perhaps?), and then plop the lid back on. You’ll need to turn a few more times to let your seasoning stick to the popcorn.
Step 4: Serve and Enjoy
Pour your creation into a bowl, then wait till the steam clears and the popcorn gets crunchy.
And there you have it! Perfectly popped popcorn ready to complete your family movie marathon, game night, or simply your craving for a yummy snack.
How to Clean a Stovetop Popcorn Maker
A lot of folks will tell you that the worst part of cooking popcorn on stovetop is the cleanup.
That isn’t the case for the Popsmith Popper.
Cleaning this popcorn popper is easy peasy. Here’s what you need to do:
If You Have a Dishwasher
- Give the Popper a minute to cool down. It’s stainless steel so it may warp or crack if it’s still hot when you wash it.
- Run it over warm water and dishwashing soap to get rid of as much oil as possible.
- Rinse the Popper and take out the spinner.
- Pop the spinner, lid, and kettle into the dishwasher (all parts are dishwasher safe).
- Let the Popper dry and then store it—or leave it for display.
If You Don’t Own a Dishwasher (or Don’t Trust It)
- Wait for the Popper to cool down.
- Run it over warm water and dishwashing soap, and then rinse.
- Remove the spinner.
- Use a sponge or brush to remove excess residue in the kettle, then do the same with the spinner and lid.
- Wait for all the parts to dry before storing or displaying the Popper.
Level Up Your Popcorn Game
Popcorn is a classic snack, but there’s more to it than nostalgia.
It’s a celebration of togetherness—the shared experience of waiting with bated breath for the kernels to pop, the collective inhale of the mouthwatering aroma filling the air, and the journey of the bowl from one hand to the next.
This all-sensory revelry doubles with our stovetop popcorn popper. It doesn’t only whip up the tastiest popcorn in the universe; it’s also super fun to use and adds a pop of special to your kitchen.
