Chili Lime Popcorn at a Glance
There’s this popular street food in Mexico called fruta con chile y limon. It’s a combination of fruits and veggies like mango, watermelon, papaya, and cucumber topped with lime juice, a little salt, and chili powder.
The fruits make it a refreshing summer snack, but we think this treat is especially memorable because of the tangy, spicy chili lime seasoning.
And that’s what we hope you’ll experience when you try making this chili lime popcorn recipe with your Popper.
Chili Lime Popcorn Ingredients
- ½ cup kernels
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon lime zest
- Salt, to taste
How to Make Chili Lime Popcorn
Step 1: Make Chili Lime Seasoning
Mix chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, lime zest, and salt in a small bowl and set aside.
Step 2: Heat

Set your stove to medium heat and allow the Popper to preheat for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 3: Add Oil
Add coconut oil to the Popper and let it melt.
Step 4: Add Kernels

Toss 2-3 kernels into the pot. Wait for the first one to pop, then add in the remaining kernels.
Step 5: Pop

Cover the Popper and turn the crank clockwise while the kernels pop. This will keep them from sticking to one place and burning.
NOTE: You don’t need to crank it the whole time — just do so every couple of seconds. The Popper will do most of the heavy lifting for you.
Step 6: Remove
When popping slows to 1-2 seconds between pops, take the pot off the heat and transfer the popcorn to a big bowl.
Step 7: Drizzle
Drizzle the lime juice over the popcorn, shaking the bowl to coat it evenly.
Step 8: Sprinkle
Sprinkle the chili lime seasoning over the popcorn and toss the bowl.
Step 9: Serve

Pour your chili lime popcorn into a bowl and enjoy! You can serve this on movie night as an alternative to buttery movie theater popcorn, pair it with a margarita for happy hour, or snack on it while playing an intense round of Monopoly on game night.
