Unicorn Popcorn at a Glance
Planning a baby shower or your kid's birthday party? Unicorn popcorn is exactly what the dessert table needs.
Melted white chocolate gets divided, dyed, and drizzled over popcorn made fresh in your Popper, and the result looks straight out of a confectionery fever dream. It's a colorful treat that's guaranteed to make people reach for their phones before they reach for a handful.
Unicorn Popcorn Ingredients
- ½ cup popcorn kernels
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 12 oz white chocolate
- Oil-based food coloring (regular food coloring will make the chocolate seize up)
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- Sprinkles
How to Make Unicorn Popcorn
Step 1: Heat
Set your stove to medium heat and let the Popsmith preheat for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 2: Pour Oil and Kernels

Add oil into the Popper and drop 2 to 3 kernels. When the first one pops, toss in the rest and cover the pot.
Step 3: Turn

Turn the spinner clockwise as the kernels pop to prevent burning. No need to do this the entire time — just give it a few cranks every couple of seconds. The Popsmith will do the heavy lifting for you.
GOOD TO KNOW: If the crank isn’t working smoothly, kernels might be lodged behind the spinner. All you need to do when this happens is lift the interior spinner (it shouldn’t be too hot) with your finger to release the kernels.
Step 4: Remove
When popping slows to 1-2 seconds between pops, take the Popper off the heat and remove the lid. Then divide the popcorn into portions, one for each color. Place them in separate bowls.
Step 5: Melt White Chocolate
Melt white chocolate in 30-second microwave intervals, stirring in between. Divide into 3 portions (or more, depending on how many colors you want).
Step 6: Mix in Food Coloring
Add different food coloring to each portion of the white chocolate.
Step 7: Drizzle
Drizzle each color over the popcorn using a spoon or piping bag for better distribution. Then add salt, sprinkles, and other mix-ins.
Step 8: Serve

Wait for the unicorn popcorn to set, then break it into clusters, and enjoy!
