This Buffalo Popcorn Recipe Is the Halftime MVP

Transform popcorn into a spicy game day treat with our buffalo popcorn recipe — all the flavor, none of the messy fingers!

You know that spicy, tangy, buttery flavor profile buffalo wings are known for? Well, wait till you try that combination on popcorn!

Buffalo popcorn is so lip-smacking good that you won’t just want to reserve it for game day watch parties — it’s also great for movie night or an afternoon snack. Plus, making it is a breeze. You only need your trusty Popper and a few basic ingredients.

Let’s get started:

Buffalo Wing Popcorn Ingredients

  • 1 packet Oh Sooo Buttery Popcorn

  • 4 tablespoons melted butter

  • ⅓ cup buffalo wings hot sauce

  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning powder

  • ⅓ cup blue cheese crumbles

Buffalo Wing Popcorn Directions

Step 1: Preheat

Set your stove to medium heat and allow the Popper to preheat for 1 to 2 minutes.

Step 2: Add Oil

Cut the coconut oil portion of your Oh Sooo Buttery Popcorn packet, squeeze it into the pot, and let it fully melt.

Step 3: Toss Kernels

Cut open the popping corn portion of the packet and drop 3 kernels into the Popper. When the first kernel pops, toss in the remaining and cover the pot.

Step 4: Add Popcorn Salt

Now cut the seasoning pouch and pour the buttery salt into the pot.

PRO TIP: If you prefer a less salty snack, use a tiny amount of the seasoning and adjust to taste after popping.

Step 5: Turn

Turn the Popsmith’s crank clockwise while the kernels are popping to prevent burning.

Step 6: Remove

When popping slows to 1 to 2 seconds between pops, take the Popper off the heat and pour the popcorn into a huge bowl.

Step 7: Make Buffalo Wing Sauce

Combine melted butter, buffalo hot sauce, white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl. Whisk until well-mixed.

Step 8: Season

Gradually drizzle the buffalo popcorn sauce over the popcorn, then give it a good toss to distribute the flavoring evenly.

Step 9: Bake

Spread the buffalo wing popcorn on a baking sheet and put it in the oven at 250°F for 10-15 minutes. Stir halfway through.

Step 10: Serve

More Buffalo Popcorn Tips

  • For added crunch, you can crush some blue corn tortilla chips and sprinkle them on top of the popcorn.

  • Not everyone has the same tolerance for heat. If you’re serving this popcorn at a party, divide it into batches with different heat levels — mild, medium, and “dare you” spicy.

  • Buffalo popcorn tastes best fresh, but if you have some leftover popcorn, store it in an airtight container and eat it within 2 days.
